Wheaton Academy Students Serve During Homecoming Week
October 6, 2011

Homecoming week has been different at Wheaton Academy this year with a very special service project. Students worked together last night to assemble bags for three different non-profit organizations for a service project called 360-Degree Impact. Students were responsible for collecting all of the items for the bags. They assembled “Haiti bags” for World Orphans, which included a notebook, pens, pencils, crayons, and glue. They also created “food bags” for the Northern Illinois Food Bank, which included 20 cans of non-perishable food items. Lastly, the students made “kid bags” for World Relief which consisted of 3 children’s books, a hat, gloves, and toys or stuffed animals.

Over 400 students participated and put together 600 bags which far exceeded the goal of 240 bags for the evening. The evening ended with students and faculty forming a circle around the bags and singing "Amazing Grace" and praying with one another. Watch a clip of the students singing below.
