FAITH, WRITING AND MUSIC
Artist Series 2009-2010
PURPOSE
The Artist Series is dynamic and relevant as compelling artists from dancers and classical musicians to authors and comedians come to Wheaton Academy in order to enhance the education of our students. This program is unique among high school Fine Arts programs, providing an outstanding opportunity for students to engage with accomplished artists. Every year, the Artist Series will invite different types of artists, and this year, students will interact specifically with writers and contemporary musicians in a series entitled Faith, Writing, and Music. The local community and our school constituency are welcome onto our campus for this exceptional program.

FRIDAY, MARCH 19, 2010, 7:30pm -- JOSH JAMES RIEBOCK AND ADDISON ROAD
Event Open to the Public
JOSH JAMES RIEBOCK, Author/Speaker
Josh James Riebock grew up near Chicago, five houses away from a little Dutch girl named Kristen. A few decades later, the two of then got married and moved to Austin, TX. Josh and Kristen spend a lot of their time hoping to follow Jesus wherever He takes them, and imagining what their city and world might look like if they loved the way that Christ did. Josh has a job too. He’s a full time writer and speaker (and it's a much better fit for him than the days when he worked in restaurants, churches, and as a janitor), which means that he gets the opportunity to speak at conferences, colleges, and churches across the country and read the Sky Mall magazine about 50 times a year on airplanes. Josh’s first book, mY Generation: A Real Journey of Change and Hope, was released on October 1, 2009, by Baker Publishing Group. And oh yeah, he’s also has been known to frequent Bon Jovi concerts on many occasions.
ADDISON ROAD, Band
The Dallas-based pop-rock band was ‘invented’ on the fly in 2001 when then dating Baylor students Jenny and Ryan Simmons (now married) were offered $500 to ‘bring their band and play’ for a large Disciple Now gathering. Six years, thousands of miles, hundreds of performances at festivals, conferences, camps (and everywhere in between) and three impressive independent recordings later, Addison Road has renewed its mission and found its voice. Produced by Chris Stevens (TobyMac, Sanctus Real, Mandisa), Addison Road is the culmination of the band’s mission to inspire people from all walks of life to find their hope, their identity in God, to be changed by His grace and to extend that grace to a world in need. In the meantime, this band of podcast-loving, worship-minded artists will continue creating music born in the reality of life infused with real hope—fulfilling the mission behind their music.
