The School
Wheaton Academy is a college preparatory, inter-denominational Christian high school. The Academy was founded in 1853. Wheaton Academy's enrollment is 633 students grades 9-12. Wheaton Academy admits students of any race, national origin, and gender and does not discriminate on these bases in its educational policies, financial aid, athletics, and other school-administered programs.
Mission
The mission of Wheaton Academy is to nurture growth in our students through relationships, excellence and service to the glory of God. The school seeks to deal with the whole person - mind, body, and spirit.
Accreditation
Wheaton Academy has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools since 1911. The school is recognized by the state of Illinois and the DuPage County Education Service Region. Wheaton Academy is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.
Faculty and Class Size
85% of Wheaton Academy's faculty hold graduate degrees. The teacher/student ratio is 1:15, with an average class size of 20. The average teaching experience is 9 years with department heads averaging 15 years experience.
Winterim
In addition to its two traditional semesters WA features a unique curricular experience called Winterim. This interim of 2-1/2 weeks during January allows for intensive in-depth study. Students receive 30 hours of classroom instruction in each of two courses. In addition to upper level and practical arts courses, students are also encouraged to travel or serve internships in the work environment of their choice.

Percentage grades and letter grades appear on report cards; permanent records and transcripts reflect letter grades only. GPA is calculated on academic subjects only. Honors and AP courses receive one additional quality point for GPA. Wheaton Academy does not rank.

Advanced Placement
WA offers AP courses in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, English Language, English Literature, French, Government & Politics, Physics, Spanish and US History. In 2008, 74 students sat for 145 exams, with 79% earning a score of 3 or above.

College Selection
The 139 members of the Class of 2008 enrolled in 62 colleges in 21 states, with 81% attending four-year institutions. The highest numbers are attending Wheaton, Taylor, College of DuPage, Olivet Nazarene, Elgin Community College, Gordon, Biola, Baylor, Calvin, John Brown, Lipscomb, North Park, Northern Illinois, University of Illinois, University of Iowa, Cornerstone, Huntington, LeTourneau, Seattle Pacific and Xavier. Other institutions include Azusa Pacific, Bethel, College of Wooster, Cornell, Covenant, George Mason, Grinnell, Indiana Wesleyan, Hanover, Hope, Houghton, Illinois State, Judson, Moody Bible, Rose-Hulman, Swarthmore, Trinity International, Truman State, Vanderbilt and the University of Pennsylvania.
Co-curricular
Wheaton Academy provides over 1,800 extracurricular spots, and many clubs and group activities have unlimited participation opportunities. The Academy has 16 varsity teams (Private School League). In 2006-2007, Wheaton Academy won the PSL All Sport Award. Six teams won league championships, with one competitor at the state level. Strong programs exist in theater, choral and instrumental music, academic teams, art, debate, climbing team, service and leadership development.
Enrollment Growth
The student enrollment of 660 in October of 2009 represents the largest number of students ever at Wheaton Academy. It also represents eighteen consecutive years of student growth since 1991.
