What motivated you to become a teacher?

I never imaged I would be a teacher, so in short it was God’s calling on my life. I was doing full time ministry and realized my love for teaching. In addition, I realized how much impact I could have teaching Bible to students five days a week. In ministry, I would see someone 1-2 times a week to invest in them, in this setting I get to see students every day.

What are your favorite moments with students?

The moments when students take ownership of their faith and grow in their passion for God and His Word.

What is the most important life lesson you want your students to learn in your class?

I want students to understand how God views them, and to understand what it means to be a disciple of Jesus for the rest of their lives.

Why are you passionate about the subject(s) that you teach?

I read a quote, “I want God, not my idea of God” and I realized that when I settle for my idea of God it falls far short of the living God. That realization started a passion to understand God more deeply and I realized that the more I know God the more I am drawn into his infinite character. Right when I think I have God figured out I realized how little I know him and how much more that is to learn about God. I LOVE teaching Bible because I want students to know God!

What advice do you have for parents considering Christian education?

The thing I value most about Wheaton Academy is that students will be given a Christian Worldview through which to interact with and make meaning out of the world around them. All Truth is God’s Truth and for students to have a foundation of Truth from God’s Word to understand the world is invaluable.
