Furnace Company

"Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, “Your threat means nothing to us. If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king. But even if he doesn’t, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn’t serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up." Daniel 3:17-18 (MSG)

Furnace Company is a community of student artists with the shared purpose of combining their creative gifts with their faith both onstage and in their daily lives. This is an immense responsibility due to the subjective nature of art and the absolute nature of our God. The challenge then is to create in a manner that the Creator deems as excellent rather than diving into the world’s misguided definition of art where seemingly anything goes. Art forms such as comedy improv and dance can often be misunderstood due to the misuse of these forms by the culture in which we live. Therefore the need is all the more urgent for Christian performers to find a voice in these art forms and use them as a means of glorifying and enjoying the Creator from whom all art truly comes. The process of reclaiming an art form can be a long and arduous one as the student artist must be in a constant state of creating and evaluating. However, this process is also exceedingly rewarding, as it is a constant interaction with the God of the Scriptures who is the true Artist and ultimate example of creativity. Therefore, the Furnace Company is humbly seeking the Creator as the true role model for their artistic expression.
