WWII: Changing History and Challenging Values

This popular course will look at how the events of WWII have changed history and shaped people’s values. Students will examine the cultural, spiritual, and political causes of the war. They will also have the rare opportunity to meet guest speakers that include veterans, Holocaust survivors, missionaries, and others who were eyewitnesses to the events being discussed. Past guests have included American, German, and Russian veterans and concentration camp survivors.

Students will study WWII through major motion pictures, documentaries, news accounts, and lectures. Research of the student’s family history during WWII will be a part of the class.

NOTE: Some subject matter (WA approved) may be disturbing to some students. This includes, but is not limited to, graphic film and documentary footage and presentations by Holocaust survivors. Contact the course instructor if more information is needed.
